Brandon's Fight Against Leukemia

The Truman Family’s Fight Against Leukemia
I am putting this fundraiser together on behalf of my sister and her family. Their world has been disrupted and flipped upside down. Brandon is a volunteer firefighter in his community and has a career on the pipeline.

On February 20th my brother in law Brandon Truman went to a doctor’s appointment because he had not been feeling well for around a month. He is a very hard-working, strong-willed man but his wife’s concern got him into the doctor’s office. He had no energy, headaches, losing weight, and just the general disinterest in joining in daily activities with his wife, Sara and boys, Steven and Paul.

During the visit his had multiple tests done including a blood test. He then proceeded home to only be called a few hours later telling him to go to the ER for a blood transfusion. He spent the night in the hospital in Williamsport, PA. the next day he was transferred by ambulance to UPMC in Pittsburg, PA to undergo Leukemia testing. Two short days later, friday morning my sister and her family received the news that Brandon does have Leukemia. He is facing 18 months of treatment and 3 years of being monitored.

Currently, Brandon is in Pittsburg receiving his first round of chemotherapy. We are told he may be in there for up to 30 days. Every treatment there after includes medication at home, along with blood transfusions at a hospital near their home, and a week-long visit every month at the UPMC in Pittsburg for 18 months.

Which leads to the reason for this fundraiser. With how unexpected and fast these things are piling up, it is adding to the stress and worry of Sara and Brandon.

My sister works 2 jobs when the boys are in school and on the weekends, she takes the family to stay in Pittsburg with their dad. They need help with everyday bills, groceries, and travel expenses (food, gas, a room to stay in the weekends she takes the boys to visit their dad in the hospital). Along with the medical bills the will soon start arriving.

I cannot imagine what they are going through and all I know is I want to help in any and every way I can, and this is a good start.

I am truly appreciative and grateful for your time, your donation, and your help sharing this wonderful family’s story.

Please keep Brandon and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
