Brandon Webster Heart Transplant

Donation protected
Hello,

Friends, Family, and Community. One of the hardest things to do sometimes is to ask for help. Brandon and I are in need of your help. For those of you who may not know, my husband Brandon Webster (47) has been fighting advance stages of heart failure for about six years now. This journey has been filled with pain and suffering, but more importantly it has also brought Brandon and I closer to God. We know, trust, and believe that God is in control and that through him anything is possible. We know our God is mighty and can work even this to his glory if we just believe and continue to have faith!

Brandon is currently active on the heart transplant list through UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. This past September 2017, Brandon had to have a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) put in his heart. It is a pump that pumps the blood through his heart and body. Along with the pacemaker defibrillator, it helps his heart to function. Although science has come along way, the mortality rate is staggering. Only 1 in 5 LVAD patients survive the first year! The LVAD is what they call a bridge to heart transplant. Brandon’s body did not do well with the LVAD surgery. About 18 hours after surgery his entire body; right heart, kidneys, liver all shut down. He was in ICU for over 17 days while in a sedated coma, he has had to have additional surgeries due to complications from the LVAD surgery. In February 2018 he had to have a tracheotomy due to respiratory distress. We then learned he has vocal cord paralysis from the intubation tubing. He has had to learn how to stand, walk, hold a spoon, and now breath again (thru this new tube). He was hospitalized September 11, 2017 - November 24, 2017 due to this surgery. A new heart now would change everything for him! It would give him a chance to live a life not confined to a bed! We have shared some pictures with you of our journey. Some days, I look at Brandon and see God’s hands holding him up. That is the only way he could have endured so much and still continue to smile and laugh with me in the midst of this trial between the tears.

It surprised us when the hospital was explaining and teaching us about what to expect with the heart transplant process - that part of the presentation included that we would need to do fundraising and find a way to help cover costs associated with transplant that are not covered by our health insurance as well as other factors; like loss of income due to the hospitalization.

After a lot of prayer and thought, we are asking that you consider making a financial donation via the Brandon Webster GoFundMe.com fundraiser campaign. If you feel moved to do so, your gift would be greatly appreciated by our family. Your donation will bless our family and help us get through this trial! If you are willing please also consider donating blood or sign up to be an organ donor. it will possibly save the life of someone you may know like Brandon.
