Brandon Newman's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Brandon fainted at a baseball practice on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Brandon had not been feeling quite right for several months, but his doctor appointments before then had not identified a root cause of his prolonged feelings of fatigue, shortness of breath, and feeling winded while working out.

On July 20, 2017 they learned that the root cause of Brandon's illness comes from a disease called Amyloidosis. Amyloidosis (am-uh-loi-DO-sis) is a rare disease that occurs when a substance called amyloid builds up in your organs. Amyloid is an abnormal protein that is produced in your bone marrow and can be deposited in any tissue or organ. In Brandon’s case, it is affecting his heart tissue called Cardiac Amyloidosis.

Brandon is being treated at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for his medical direction as Mayo has a Center of Excellence for Amyloidosis. The Newman family is so grateful for the love and support that surround them through a time that has turned their lives upside down. Their faith in God and your support are helping them stay positive during these challenging days. Thank you, and please keep praying!

From the numerous rides to kids activities, meals brought to their house, help around their home, and child care when Katie has been with Brandon at Mayo, the outpouring of support for the Brandon, Katie and the kids has been tremendous.

As you can imagine, the medical expenses continue to build. So many of you have asked if you can help contribute in this way. It was a difficult decision for Brandon and Katie to allow themselves to receive this kind of support, especially not knowing what lies ahead for expenses. However, currently, his condition is requiring necessary equipment and changes to their house for Brandon's safety and some added help to alleviate the many demands on Katie keeping up with the house and care for Brandon & the kids. Additional significant medical expenses are likely especially after the first of the year. The money will also be used towards gas and lodging expenses while traveling back and forth to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. We hope this fund will allow them the opportunity to find ways to make life more manageable and allow them to maximize their time together as a family. We thank you in advance for any support you feel led to give!
