The Okerlund’s are an incredible, vibrant family who embody all that is good in this world; love, peace, joy and total unselfishness. Not only are Brandon and Wendy incredible parents, who’ve taught their family to actively enjoy this world and be always grateful for their blessings, but they are leaders in the community and in the church. After 22 years of marriage, Brandon and Wendy are now facing an immense giant. Wendy has contracted a rare form of M.S. called Tumefactive Multiple Sclerosis. Tumefactive M.S. is a rare form of this disease with symptoms similar to those of a brain tumor. On magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, the condition appears as tumor-like lesions larger than two centimeters. This disease is aggressive and unyielding to most known treatments. From a family who once spent their weekends on motorbikes, hiking, camping or volunteering at the church, the Okerlund’s now are making multiple trips a week, several hours in each direction for treatments that can best be characterized by” hope”. As you can imagine fuel costs alone have been rapidly depleting any savings they had left. Although the emotional and financial costs are becoming insurmountable as Wendy endures this vicious assault, the Okerlund’s remain strong in their in their faith and exemplify an eternal perspective, truly an example and inspiration for us all to emulate.
