Brain Surgery for Chris
Donation protected
On December 11th, 2020, Chris will be having a major brain surgery that we hope and pray will change his life forever. Around July 2009, Chris had his first grand mal seizure at the age of 19. Since then, the frequency and severity of his seizures have greatly increased. Chris being the strong man that he is, has persevered to this point and has undergone many tests, procedures and other surgeries to further understand his seizures. At this point, we are faced with the decision to continue life in a diminished capacity or choose to undergo brain surgery. Chris wants to live life to the fullest for his family, friends and himself. The chances of this surgery being successful are very high, but with every procedure there is risk. We know that there is a 75% chance that he will have short term memory issues once recovered from the surgery. It will take an estimate of 3 months for Chris to recover, regain any functions that were affected by brain swelling, and for us to discover what his new "normal" brain functions will be.
This will be Chris' 5th brain surgery since July 2020. Almost one year ago, we started navigating the process of discovering if Chris would be a candidate for epilepsy surgery. All tests show that he is the ideal candidate for this final surgery, and has a very high chance of becoming seizure free. This final brain surgery is called "Craniotomy Temporal Lobectomy" which is removing the part of his left temporal lobe that is having seizures.
Upon the successfulness of this surgery, Chris entire world, and the lives of his family, will drastically change. He will be able to pursue his dreams and ambitions, that previously, seizures have hindered.
I am setting up this page in hopes that those of you who love Chris and our family might be willing to help with the huge financial burden this surgery incurs. We know that this is what is best for Chris and our family. Any help, no matter how small, will aid us in the surgery and recovery period as we work out payment for the surgery and our monthly financial responsibilities while Chris is on medical leave.
We love and appreciate all of you, and ask that we are in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this period in our lives.
