Help Alyson get life changing brain surgery
Alyson Dunlop has been battling a serious and baffling health condition for the past two years that has seen this young and vibrant partner and mother inexplicably experiencing severe and crippling pain, ongoing debilitating migraines, vertigo, visual disturbances, nausea, temporary partial paralyses and numerous neurological challenges which are increasing in severity and duration.
She has been forced to give up her thriving Eco cleaning and Eco products business in Samford Valley, Queensland, and has spent two years finding ways to manage her symptoms which have negatively impacted every aspect of her life.
On 15 January 2019 Alyson visited the world-famous neurosurgeon, Dr Charlie Teo in Sydney, and has learned her condition is due to a Pineal Cystic Tumour. The cyst is causing a pressure build-up and blocking the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain resulting in the many symptoms Alyson experiences, with surgical removal of the cyst being the optimal procedure. Dr Charlie Teo has performed over 100 of these surgeries. Whilst the operation is not without a “risk” factor, they have proven to be life-changing for sufferers, putting the resumption of a “normal” life within reach.
Unfortunately, the surgery costs are expensive, with fees being approximately $100,000 and the majority of it being required as an upfront payment. Unfortunately, Alyson and Michael cannot afford the surgery without financial assistance. It pains them to have to ask for help but they are faced with limited options. They have committed that any money raised surplus to the costs incurred will be distributed to the many people also seeking financial assistance for this life changing surgery.
The emotional, physical, and financial burden that Michael and Alyson now face is enormous and urgent. Alyson is a much loved partner, mother, step-mother, daughter, step-daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, step-sister, sister-in-law, an amazing friend, and her family is absolutely everything to her. Alyson is always smiling, supportive, positive, and the friend we are all lucky to have. Her life has effectively been “on hold” for over two years with no other treatment options.
Our goal, through this fundraising, is to help Alyson get this much needed and life changing surgery as soon as financially possible.
