Support Jessica's Family: A Tribute to Shane
Donation protected
Introduction
Jessica is not typically one to seek help. However, in light of the unforeseen financial challenges following the sudden passing of her husband, Shane, and acknowledging the vital role of community support in such times, I felt compelled to set up this fundraiser. This effort is for those who understand the profound impact of sudden loss and the difficulties that arise without financial safety nets.
The Story of a Family's Love and Loss
Jessica and Shane's love story began in 1991, blossoming into a cherished marriage in 1995. They were blessed with three wonderful children – Rio, 24, Dallas, 16, and Storm, 20, creating a life rich in love, faith, and purpose.
Shane: A Pillar of Strength and Faith
Shane was much more than just a family man. In his earlier years, he was a stunt double for Mel Gibson in 'Mad Max 1' and one of Britain’s first Guardian Angels. A former Unarmed Combat Instructor, he worked with some of the world's best heavyweight champions, supporting his mission work. Shane and Jessica spent 40 years in itinerant ministry and missions, co-founding “Hollywood Classics Network,” one of the UK & Europe’s first free-to-air movie channels on the Sky network, interspersed with biblical programming amid Silver Screen Classics. As an inspiring preacher and missionary, Shane's passionate leadership and commitment to righteousness profoundly impacted many, leaving a lasting legacy in the fellowship he led with Jessica – a role she will continue with the help of their youngest son, Dallas, who steps into his father’s shoes.
A Sudden Turn of Fate
Tragically, Shane’s life and the family's stability were shattered by a sudden diagnosis of aggressive, non-symptomatic skin cancer, compounded by long-term chronic pain and illness from his sporting days. This led to paralysis and, ultimately, his heart-wrenching passing. This loss has been devastating, both emotionally and financially, plunging the family into uncharted waters.
The Current Challenge
Today, Jessica and her children face a future filled with uncertainty. With Shane's passing, they have lost not only a beloved husband and father but also their primary financial support. They are now grappling with daily living expenses on a reduced single person/widow's income. Jessica aims to continue serving the ministry full time and sustain what has been achieved but needs to demonstrate that this is achievable.
Our Goal: £25,000 for Six to Nine Months of Stability
We aim to raise £25,000 to provide Jessica and her children with six to nine months of financial stability. This support will primarily cover their household expenses, with a focus on reducing social isolation by learning to drive (as Shane was the sole driver and the leased car has been returned), acquiring a small family car, and enabling Jessica to continue serving the ministry full time. It will also address the extracurricular educational requirements of Dallas, giving them the much-needed time to grieve and plan ahead without immediate financial stress.
Every Contribution Makes a Difference
Your support means more than just financial assistance; it's a gesture of love, solidarity, and a tribute to Shane’s legacy. This fundraiser is about giving Jessica and her children the space to heal and maintain their home – a sanctuary filled with memories of Shane. Jessica, a resilient woman, intends to secure an income thereafter; this fundraiser is a temporary bridge to help them regain stability.
