Brads House

Donation protected
I began working with a non profit organization called Rocky mountain kids a little over two years ago http://www.rockymountainkidscs.com/ (you can donate from this link as well just be sure to include a note that your donation is for Nick Thompson and Brads house) I took the job on a whim after deciding I didn’t want to continue to play basketball for a career.  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but I knew I wanted to help people and bring more purpose into my life.  I started working with their J-29 group home which serves young men ages 10-14.  The youth i've worked with all come from unique situations. Some have been abused (physically, emotionally, and sexually) neglected, come from broken homes and on occasion are found on the street without a home at all. I was shocked when I learned the 5 beds at the home i worked at, were the only ones for that age group in the entire county.  As i type this there are 20+ kids sitting in detention centers and facilities who are stuck because there are no beds open for them, I knew I had to help.
Over the past two years I have poured my life into helping these young men and decided that is what I want to continue to do for the foreseeable future.  I approached RMK about 6 months ago about the opportunity to open my own home to provide 8 more beds in my community for kids in similar situations. They were on board and I began the process.
It was an expensive and sometimes challenging road but I am on the brink of opening Brads House.  Many of you reading this know Brad Barton and I don’t need to go into depth why it is so fitting to name my house after him.  Brad showed me and everyone around him just how much one man can impact the world and inspired me more than i can put into words. If I can have half the impact on these young men that Brad had on the guys he was around I know I will change lives.
That brings me to the Go Fund Me account.  I have told myself from the start this is not something I would do.  I have paid for everything out of pocket from certifications, foster parent classes, psychological evaluations, furnishing the home, etc.  I am fully certified and very close to closing on a property for the boys........ And am just as close to spending every dime to my wife and I's name to do so.  I wake up and go to sleep thinking about the kids I can help once we open our doors and am at the point where I need help to do so.  I have never been the type to ask for help/handouts but at this point it isn’t about me. It's about the kids sitting in facilities on waiting lists that need somewhere to live.
100% of the money from this will go directly towards Brads House. Weather it be the property itself, food, clothes, or any other items 9-13 year old boys need to live comfortably.  I will continue to use my wife and I's social media platforms to let everyone know where this money is going and what its being used for.   I will be living in Brads House with these boys full time when we open and promise to continue to do everything I can to better their lives and futures.  If you made it this far THANK YOU! Any amount you can donate to this cause will help and sharing it on your social media can help just as much!
