"Meet the heroes who will make history... up as they go along"

Brad Knows Nothing is a brand-spankin' new musical about time traveling sailors who almost ruin history, so buckle up, because this isn't your dad's musical. It's ours, because we wrote it.

We are Jacob Ben-Shmuel and Alan Blake Bachelor, a friendship forged in the firey crucible that is musical theatre. A brotherhood bound by our thirst for artistic justice and our stalwart dedication to our craft. Now, as the world teeters on the edge of darkness, we have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to seize  our dream...

We have been invited to show our work as a staged reading in the prestigious New York Musical Festival, and we have assembled a quality team of professionals to bring our show to life. This festival has given rise to a number of Broadway and Off-Broadway classics, such as Next To Normal and [Title of Show].

So what's our musical about? I'm glad you asked. Brad Knows Nothing is the story of — you guessed it — Brad, a high school senior who doesn't know very much. When he finds himself utterly unprepared for his final history report, he enlists the help of his friend Chad, and together they weave the tale of Captain Bradimus as he sails upon his Time Boat in a desperate search for glory and acclaim.

So why do we need your money? Great question! While we've secured funding for the show itself, there's still the matter of traveling to New York and staying there for two weeks while the show rehearses and goes up. These expenses would otherwise come out of pocket, so any donation is a big help for us.

ABOUT THE WRITERS:

Alan Blake Bachelor is an up-and-coming novelist, screenwriter, and, of course, co-writer of this musical. He loves storytelling in all its forms, and every day he seeks to test and hone his understanding of the art form. In other words, he's still working toward that big break. He graduated with a BA in Drama from UC Irvine in 2016.

Jacob Ben-Shmuel is currently the standby for Elder Cunningham in the national tour of the hilarious hit musical, The Book of Mormon. This means that most nights, he hangs out back stage to work on Brad Knows Nothing, the musical to which you are currently in the process of donating, hopefully. He's the composer of this show (and of a few other shows that you almost-certainly haven't heard of). He graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater from UC Irvine.
