Brace Yourselves

Hello there!

Oli Gregoriou here and this is the fundraising page for something that has been an issue for me for a few years now!

For years I've had trouble with teeth crowding in my upper arch and mild crowding in the lower. It's something I'd been OK with avoiding for a while, but the last 2 years I've felt increasing physical discomfort and my teeth being misaligned has in all honestly made me self-conscious about my smile and knocks my confidence considerably.

After a couple of visits to the dentist they've confirmed my incisors are dipped inwards (retroclined) and there's a functional shift of my jaw to the right by 2 mm. The treatment I've agreed to with the doctors is to opt for braces, for 12-18 months, which will straighten the upper teeth and remove the functional shift of my jaw.  They have mentioned that muscular discomfort is not directly related to the teeth arrangement and that any improvement will be incidental to the treatment of braces. 

The treatment overall will cost £4500, including removable and fixed retainers, and braces themselves. I didn't opt for treatment when I was younger and when it would have been free on the National Health Service. I didn't think my future would amount to much anyway, and I used the obstacles I saw as an excuse to avoid what I now see as a deeply valuable investment into health and well being, confidence and faith for the future. I'm finally going for the treatment, it represents a step towards something which has become deeply meaningful for me: faith for what's up ahead and faith that overcoming obstacles can have endless worth!

I'm raising money for this and obviously realise it's not cheap treatment! The braces are going in on 6th September and If 90 people were to give £50 I'd be covered!
