Lamar's Medical Fund

The week of August 1, 2017, Lamar had been complaining about his right arm and hand being numb, but his mother thought maybe he slept on his arm the wrong way. On Tuesday, August 8, 2017, Lamar stood up to go to the bathroom and collapsed in the hallway of the apartment. His mother called the paramedics, and his blood sugar had dropped to 51. The hospital performed many tests, but the cat scan made them nervous, so Lamar was transported to AI Dupont Children's Hospital on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday morning, Lamar went through a two hour MRI, which showed that a six-inch tumor had grown on his spinal cord as well as a cyst growing throughout the spinal cord towards the brain stem. The neurosurgeon spoke with the mother and stated the only way to help her son is for him to undergo a 6-hour surgery on his spinal cord to remove the tumor and drain the cyst. On Friday, August 11, 2017, Lamar had surgery and according to the doctor's Lamar wouldn't have mobility in his hands, and feet for a long time. After surgery, Lamar spent 18 days on the Pediatric ICU on a ventilator. The tumor that was removed from Lamar's spinal cord came back to be a low-grade glioma cancer called Astrocytoma. This life change has taken a toll on both of them. Being a single parent, the mental, physical and financial strang is overwhelming to them both. I am reaching out to family and friends to help to support Lamar and his mother's basic needs during this devasting life-changing experience. Any monetary donation would be helpful to this family.  Again, thank you for your support!
