The Richards family is an incredible bunch! Chris & Melody were married on June 7, 2013 and their families were joined together that day. They have a passion for the Lord and they have dedicated their lives to serving Him. Chris is a Worship Pastor & Melody is a homemaker. Both Melody and Chris have two children from previous marriages (Chris has Chris II-17, & Matt-16; Melody has boy/girl twins-Cade & Halle-7). Four months into their marriage it came as quite a surprise to them that they were expecting a little bundle of joy! Not too much later they found out that that they were expecting a baby girl, Mazi Grace!
Although Melody had a rough pregnancy, Mazi Grace was perfectly healthy! On June 7, 2014 this precious couple celebrated their first anniverary. Melody began having some pain while they were at dinner & thought that she might be in labor, so they went to the hospital. Upon their arrival they checked in and they were taken to a delivery room to be asessed. They first put the contraction monitor on and then they attempted to place the "fetal heart monitor" on to keep an eye on Mazi Grace's heart rate, but the nurse couldn't find a heartbeat. After trying as hard as possible a sonogram was performed and it was confirmed. Mazi Grace had gone home to be with Jesus after just 37.5 weeks on earth.
The Richards may never know why or how they are going through the agony of losing a child, but they do believe that God has a plan for them and He has a purpose. It isn't a fun thing to go through. In fact, it is a pain that they would never wish upon even their worst enemy, yet they still had the immediate and selfless response, "The Lord Giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21b
Now they are left with medical expenses, funeral/burial expenses (totaling $8,000 ...Mazi Grace doesn't even have a headstone yet-prices begin at $2,000 & all of the medical bills are still trickling in) and many other incidentals (i.e. car repairs of $2,100 required before updating their past due June inspection sticker) that many people would never even think of. Just as this couple and their deep love for others and especially their unwavering faith in the Lord and His promises has touched so many of our lives, it is our turn to touch theirs. Your encouragement and prayers in the days ahead are crucial and are coveted by them! Please join me in assisting them with the financial burden they are experiencing.
