Julie’s Stroke Recovery

On Tuesday, November 17, 2020 Julie was taken by ambulance to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire due to suffering from a massive stroke. She has paralysis on her left side, but some function in her left leg. She has almost 100% blockage in her carotid arteries which supply blood flow to her brain, neck and face and at this time is inoperable and typically treated with blood thinners to try to open them/keep them open. She suffered such a massive stroke that she is unable to receive blood thinners due to the risk of it causing brain hemorrhaging. She has been receiving therapy to learn how to speak, swallow to eat, learn to walk and function all over again. Upon being discharged from the hospital she will need rehabilitation and we are working to try to get her into the Colfax Rehabilitation Center to continue her treatment plan to recover to the fullest she is able to. She has a long road to recovery and is working very hard to push herself to her limits! It’s a long shot, but we are reaching out to the community, friends and family to help cover as many expenses she may be responsible for upon being able to return home however long that may take. We are trying to relieve any future stress she may have upon being able to return to a semi normal life by trying to relieve some financial burdens that she may face! She is a very high risk to future strokes so we are trying to help provide a worry free life so she can worry about getting better instead of debt. She has a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back or her last $5.00 to help a stranger out even.
