Medical and Moving Expenses

Hi! As you can tell by our photo, my husband of 35 years and I are real jokesters. We have learned to laugh together through many rough times and we are a team for life. What is not a joke is the struggle David and I have gone through the last eight years. When you read our story you will see why David is dressed as Superman and why his doctors all call him amazing.
We discovered David has Hepatitis C back in 2006 and soon after realized he would need a Liver Transplant. David went on disability not long after and we were forced to sell the family home to pay all of our expenses since we were losing a major source of our income. we started renting, I continued to work and David did everything in his power to prepare for the tranplant. Finally, in 2010 David recieved a new liver through the grace of God and we thought the worst was over.
Unfortunately, the liver had problems and, in the process of trying to rid himself of the Hep C virus, his kidneys were damaged also. In 2011 we were told he would need another transplant for both a liver and a kidney. Most humans would throw up their hands at this point but David is extremely motivatived by his love for our six grandchildren and has the strongest will to live of anyone I have ever met. He decided to fight again, knowing how difficult it was the first time. He continued getting sicker and sicker and we had to spend more and more time in the transplant hospital 100 miles away from our home.  In 2012 he was in and out the hosptal 9 times and had to endure 13 different procedure and countless blood tests, all with a smile on his face.
Because of all of this, in February 2012, it finally came to the point that I lost my job for missing too much work. At that ime, I withdrew my 401k to help make ends meet and pay for COBRA insurance and the massive amounts of medicines and medical procedures he needs to stay alive. I have been unable to get another job because I spend all my time caring for David, driving to apointments and juggling insurances and billing which has become a full time job in itself. Unfortunately, it doesn't pay anything!!
Now we have exhausted all of our savings and can no long afford the house we have been renting. We have decided to move closer to the transplant hospital since we have to be there every week at least once and I always end of sleeping in the hospital during the times he is an in patient. We know there is more opportunity for subsidized housing and part time work for me in the city area we are moving to. Also, Gas prices being what they are, it just makes more sense to be closer to the hospital where we spend most of our time.
We hate to leave all of our family, especially our six grandchildren and my 87 year old mother but after much discussion we know this is the right decision for us.

We are asking for help in funding our move and assitance to pay for all of our medical expenses we have incurred in the last few years. We are determined to continue to fight for David's life and maintain our faith in God and our humor wworld. Any assistance you can give us will be appreciated more than you will ever know!! Thank you and God Bless You!!
