Our beautiful, loving, 8 year old pup needs your help. Zoey and her sister, Diamond, are both rescues. I have had them since they were one, when they got reunited as litter mates after being with two separate abusive/neglectful owners. We take optimum care of them and do not wish to see them in pain ever. The TPLO surgery is out of our range for emergency money, we desperately need your help. We are aiming for a maximum of 2 week until surgery. Donations made through this website will lose about 10% for fees. Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is a newer technique that actually changes the bone structure of the knee to allow for smoother movement. This technique is useful for large breed dogs, and working or agility dogs. Zoey is a very active dog who loves her runs through the nature park. This procedure involves changing the slope by cutting the top of the tibia and leveling the plateau. Changing the plateau will stabilize the knee joint. This surgery involves a bone plate and screws for healing. It also needs to be performed by a veterinary surgeon with special training. Follow-up radiographs are needed to make sure the bones are healing properly. Problems can occur if the screws attached to the bone plate loosen or infection is present. The TPLO procedure has been shown to have a better outcome than the MRIT with decreased progression of osteoarthritis. Most animals will take less time to toe-touch than the MRIT technique.
