Bread Loaf Tuition

After failing to reach $3,000 in an earlier GoFundMe pledge-based campaign (http://www.gofundme.com/9srr5g) I am trying once again to raise a lesser amount by ACTUAL DONATIONS in the hopes that I can still attend this highly-competitive writing workshop. This time I will receive all funds regardless of whether I reach my goal or not and all funds will be applied to my tuition bill. See below for more details and links to me reading.

I am excited to announce that I have been accepted to the 2014 Bread Loaf Writers' Conference! (For more information about Bread Loaf click here). In the past, I have been accepted to prestigious writing workshops based on the merit of my writing, but have not been able to attend because I did not have the money to pay the tuition fee. Because of the magnitude of this conference, I have decided that I cannot pass it up and I must at least try to raise the funds to attend. Tuition for the conference, which takes place in Ripton, VT August 13-23 2014, is $2,935 ($1,930 for tuition and $1,005 for room and board). I am also responsible for my transportation there (by plane).

Joy Priest is a writer living in Louisville, KY where she was born and raised. She studied journalism and creative writing at the University of Kentucky and at 25, she is one of the newest and youngest members of the Affrilachian Poets. Joy's honors include being named a finalist for the 2014 International Rita Dove Award in Poetry and a 2014 Kentucky Foundation for Women Artist Resident. Her work can be found at Black Space Blog, in pluck! Journal of Affrilachian Arts & Culture, Still: The Journal and Toe Good Poetry Journal.
