Virginia Cantu-Rivera Fund

I would like to express our regrets on having to inform our family and friends of this sad news regarding our Mom, Virginia Cantu-Rivera aka Virgie, Mrs. Virg, Nanna, mom.  Mom recently became very ill and was admitted to MHHS Humble with a severe infection resulting from cellulitis.  Typically this diagnosis doesn’t result into something so serious.  However, the diagnosis was not treated in a timely manner and it has now lead to more serious complications.  The infection caused vegetation to one of her heart valves which is decreasing the blood flow to all her other major organs. She is currently in ICU and intubated.  She has been responsive up until recently.  At this point we don’t think her body can handle any more trauma and she may soon pass. If any of you knew Mom, which many of you do with us being such a large family.  If you were friends with one of us you were friends with all of us and therefore without hesitation she treated you as one of her children.  Mom is the most amazing person that has been a part of our lives.  Amazing is an understatement and I don’t believe we will ever find a word to describe her.  She was the mother that gladly went without to ensure her children had everything they wanted, stayed up all night waiting for the last child to come home so that she was comfortable in knowing we were safe in bed, went to any extent to make money so that all of us were fed. She was the mom who took us to the beach as teenagers, who did all the girls hair for dance, helped EVERYONE write that most dreaded report that we had to do, coached us(an yes even our friends) through break ups so that we wouldn’t feel what we thought was pain, put a smile on our faces when we thought the little disasters in life meant the end of the world. Mom molded us into the strong people we are today.  We have been blessed all our lives to have her as a stay home mother so she could make sure she was there every step of the way.  She has given us a strength that there is no way we could have found it any other way.  She has taught us to never give up even when times are tough.  Always give 110% and to do it right the first time so you don’t live with regrets.  Never to judge a book by its cover because you never ever know someone else’s story.  Taught us about what is really important in life and to hold your family dear and how important it is to let them know every single day how much you love and care for them because in  a second they can be taken away from you. We pray that she doesn’t pass and that  a miracle takes place and she remains with us.  In the event that it is her time this unfortunately leaves us to being unprepared for funeral expenses.  If you wish to donate to Moms expenses it would be greatly appreciated.
