Boys Town's Mushroom Shed

Boys Town is an orphanage in Thailand that is home to 43 teenage boys who are otherwise at risk of severe poverty, neglect, malnutrition, illness, and child labour.
As part of an Edith Cowan University study tour to Thailand, 27 students and teachers will visit Boys Town. We hope to present them with a donation that will cover the cost of the construction of a 4 x 6m concrete mushroom shed. This would enable Boys Town to harvest enough mushrooms for their daily meals, and to sell the excess at the local village markets.
What Boys Town aims to do, is provide these boys with a chance of a better life by giving them a home, teaching them life skills, providing them with a secondary education, and preparing them for University where they can gain a degree, get a good job, and break that cycle of poverty for them and their families.
Boys Town have been in operation since 1989. With a big focus on farming and agriculture, Boys Town have been growing and farming much of their own food since the beginning.
