Box of Rain

Our Tori has been trying to end an abusive relationship for a couple of months without success. She has been manipulated, threatened and stalked during the interim of these grim weeks. It all came to a horrific and screeching halt on Monday 11/18/19 at 9:40 pm. Her assaulter beat Tori brutally and shot her twice in front of her two year old daughter. He took her phone so she could not call 911 and proceeded to call his friend to pick him up with it while Tori sat bleeding with a bullet in her thigh and another bullet which shattered her arm.  Tori's little girl was there trying to help her mom with her "booboo's". Somehow, Tori's survival mode kicked in and she was able to convince her assaulter that she would blame the incident on a break in so she can call 911. The shooter was arrested at the site.  Tori was rushed to a nearby hospital and stabilized then moved to MCV.  She had an operation on her shattered arm (the bullet hit her in the elbow which was a defense wound) and her leg is stabilized.  Tori and her little girl have a long road of recovery ahead. We are so grateful that her life was spared in the wake of this nightmare. We could not imagine a future without her in it. She and the baby are loved deeply.  Tori will be incurring  expenses to get on her feet again that goes beyond her means.
