Bowling for Marlayah

Donation protected
My name is Marlayah Legare, and I was born with a disease called Arthrogryposis, which means my muscles and joints don't work as they should and aren't stronger enough to allow me to walk. On top of that, two years later I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Growing up I was always surrounded by great people. I had a mother and father who cared so much for me. Sadly, when I was seven years old my father died of a massive heart attack, leaving my mother to raise two children on her own. Even through the tragedy, I always tell myself everything I do in a positive way is for my dad. I try my hardest to make him happy and proud of me. And I think my dad would be extremely proud of me as I am a junior in college at the college of Charleston with plans of becoming a child psychologist and advocate for people with disabilities. I believe my determination and passion shines. And like any other college student, I've enjoyed gaining my independence by living on my own, Meeting new people, and participating in the many social gatherings around campus. My personal motto to live by every day is "life is what you make it, so why not make it beautiful". I hope to inspire others to follow their hopes and dreams no matter how big or small it might be. Always live the life you want to live and do that thing that makes you want to get up every morning! Be inspired!
