Bowkus Memorial Fund

As many of you know, we lost longtime Los Angeles Jr. Kings coach Jack Bowkus on Saturday after battling with cancer deep into overtime.

Jack Bowkus was the very best of all of us, and the loss we all share is a testament to the monumental roles he played in our lives.

Jack is survived by his son, Austin, a former Jr. Kings player and emerging young coaching talent, who together with Jack, helped lead this year’s California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) state and Pacific District regional championship 14UAAA team.  As the son of one of the most experienced and respected youth hockey coaches in North America, Austin has plans to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an instrumental part of guiding and developing young hockey players.

Austin has shown great promise as a mentor and that he certainly understands how to develop hockey skills, and especially how to compete, from a lifetime of first hand experience with Jack.

Outside the rink, Austin aspires to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and had been pursuing this goal up until taking a break to spend time with Jack.  In addition to his coaching and EMT work, Austin will also become an integral leader and co-host of the annual Cali Prospects Camp which has been showcased annually for over 10 years at El Segundo’s Toyota Sports Performance Center.

With his goals in place and many years of work in store, the Jr. Kings family feels it is necessary to give as much financial support as possible to get Austin on his way.

The Jr. Kings, in partnership with Don't Walk Alone are initiating this GoFundMe account.  Don't Walk Alone, the Jr. Kings grassroots foundation is dedicated to the mental health support of our players, coaches, and management and is proud to start the GoFundMe for benefit of Austin Bowkus.

We understand that in the current environment that many of you may not be able to support Austin and for those that can, we truly appreciate your generosity.
