Botswana Missions Trip

Ever since I was 8 I’ve wanted to go to Botswana to be a missionary. I have felt called and my dream is to be a nurse in an orphanage there. Earlier this fall I was looking into a mission’s trip that would go there and couldn’t find one. I then decided that that probably wasn’t going to work out, but I still continued to pray about it. During lunch at school I decided to randomly look it up again and I found one! I clicked on it to get more information about it and to see if I was old enough to go on it. I found out that it was for Sr. High students, college students, and adults. I was so excited that I finally found a missions trip to go to Botswana. Better yet, this missions trip works with orphans, the impoverished, and people with Aids/HIV. Those are all things that interested me since I want to someday, Lord willing, own an orphanage and work with people like that.
I will be gone June 30-July 28 2018. I will spend the first two days in Miami, Florida doing an orientation, then fly out to Botswana! I will be serving in Maun, Botswana along the Thamalakane River, which is in the northern part of Botswana. I’ll be serving there during the winter/dry season, and thankfully it doesn’t really get cold there. Here are a few interesting facts about Botswana:
Botswana is one of Africa’s most stable countries.
It is the world’s largest producer of diamonds.
Even though the diamonds have transformed the country to a middle income nation it still struggles with HIV/AIDS and there is still wide spread poverty.
I’m looking for people to pray for me faithfully while I’m there and as I prepare to go. Also, the trip will be about $5,000 Canadian altogether. I’m babysitting to earn part of this money, but I need help reaching my goal. My first deadline is to have $1500 by February 1.
