Borromeo Housing, Inc. (BHI) empowers young single moms to create a self-sustaining future through education, counseling & support, while residing in our safe home. BHI closely monitors the children of our young moms to assure the children are parented responsibly, receive appropriate medical care, and meet individual developmental benchmarks. In this way, BHI is determined to present two generations of at-risk youth with alternatives to the perils of neglect, poor education, and inter-generational poverty.
The biggest threat to our program and the fragile families we support is the ability to provide the safe home that our program takes place within. With your support you can help us pay down the mortgage, ensure that there is always enough to provide the food, household and hygiene items that our mothers can't always afford... PLUS the extras, birthdays, holidays and of course the corner stone of our program - EDUCATION!
As we head into 2021 we will have 2 moms working to complete HS and we have a kindergartner, plus we have a mom that is going to begin a job training program in her dream career field! We are closing educational gaps and that means school supplies, tutors, and child care for our moms in school. We are a program that works with the whole person, not focusing on silos; so while education and housing are our cornerstones, we also address parenting and life skills to INCLUDE health and wellness.
With your help we can tackle all of these issues together, ensuring that our Moms and their children are learning about nutrition, mental and physical wellness, budgeting, time management, effective communication and so much more.
With your help and through your generosity we will be able to equip our families to move through this new year acquiring the skills necessary to transition to independence in a healthy and sustainable way.
