Putting America's Youth to Work

2019 Summer Youth Job Program
                                                                                                        "Job Ed"

Born to Win Community Development Corporation, Inc. needs your help once more. We want to thank everyone for their support in 2018. We raised over $11, 000 through various efforts such as: our Go Fund Me page, bake sales, our Mother's Day Tea, Parents and Community Donations. With the help of our supporters, we were able to provide 28 youths with summer youth jobs. Well, we need your help (for 2019) to continue to create summer youth jobs for Brooksville, Florida's inner-City youths.  It is our goal  this year to provide jobs for 50 youths. We are proud to announce that last year no child was turned away! All needs were met. We are hoping this year (2019), we will not have to turn away a youth.  Will you help us meet the need for this year?

Recent research suggests that summer jobs can help reduce violent behavior and crime including the use of drugs and alcohol, physical fighting, damaging property, and other life threatening behaviors  (Sum, Trubskyy, and McHugh 2013). For this cause, we are deliberately targeting youths who are between the ages of thirteen and twenty-one.  Low-income youths will often face many barriers when trying to enter the workforce due to lack of opportunity.  Our goal is to make this effort a little easier by helping our youths to  be better prepared by giving them the tools to be job ready while being in a safe and secure environment. Furthermore, it has been proven that summer youth  employment has so many other benefits. Last year our program was a great success and our waiting list has grown. We need your help.

My name is Tammy T. Willis, CEO of Born to Win Community Development Corporation, Inc. (BTWCDC). We are a not-for-profit organization serving Brooksville, Florida's inner-city youths  and families since 2003. Through the efforts and hard work of our youths, volunteers, community partners and parents, BTWCDC has successfully accomplished various milestones such as the development of our peer-to-peer mentoring services, self-help groups for parents and after-school tutoring.  Over the years, we have taken  at-risk students out of the State of Florida for various educational field trips.

With your help, BTWCDC will continue to strive to accomplish our current goal of providing summer jobs for 50 youths. It is our desire to compensate each child  with a  stipend of $400.00 for seven-weeks of on the job training and life skills.  Our "Job Ed" program will operate four days a week beginning June 11 until July 26, 2019, Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. We are asking for your help by donating to sponsor a child. We will conclude our fundraising efforts on July 19, 2019.  Some of the key areas of training for the youths will be:

* Career Planning
* Self-Advocacy
*Job  Interviewing Techniques
*Resume Writing
*Developing Interpersonal skills for the Workplace
*Improving Reading, Writing and Mathematics Skills
* Community Services Hours
*And much more...
