Borehole Water For Chibule Village, Zambia

My name is Monde Janzen, I'm a Zambian-Canadian. Before migrating to Canada, I worked as a white-water raft guide (First female Raft Guide on the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls) We would often drive in our company rafting vehicle on Chibule village road through Mukuni, Machenje,  and  Sichilobe villages. I would look out the windows, where the women would recognize me and call my name, carrying children on their backs in a “Chitenge” or sling. Kids would run behind the vehicles waving and calling for our attention. The children running would call, “Monde-Bolu".  "Bolu” which means water bottle. I would secretly drop water bottles off the side of our vehicles; this allowed the children to fill the bottles up with water or juice for school. Moments like this would touch my heart: such a simple act of kindness could bring such joy and purpose to me. The Chief of Southern Province His Royal Highness Chief Mukuni and his people have been very welcoming of my family and it is my desire to give back to these communities for their hospitality, generosity, and kindness.

We operate a family farm attraction in Kelowna and hope to raise money to construct a borehole water source for the kind people of Chibule village in Zambia my home country. This project will help support families in need of clean drinking water and revitalize the community's effort to have a better quality of life. Funds are needed before the end of March 2021. Your generous and cheerful support will mean that these families get to have a secondary water source in the means of a global pandemic. As a mom I'll be very grateful to know that our community in Canada wants to see these families supported in these unprecedented times. The sole purpose for this fundraiser is to bring fresh water closer to home for the children, limit the risk of them running after moving vehicles, provide their cows, goats, and chickens with water closer, build furrow irrigation from the hand pump to help empower women to grow fresh vegetables to support their families.

We are partnering with Jesus Zone Youth Africa, Livingstone, Zambia ( Non - profit borehole drilling company) to help bring clean fresh water to these communities now and in the future our goal is to eventually bring fresh water to villages near the Batoka gorge.
