I am now 9 months into my time as a Border Fellow in El Paso, Texas. Interning with Ciudad Nueva Community Outreach, a public charity serving the Rio Grande Neighborhood in central El Paso, I volunteer 20+ hours/week in after-school programs, community dinners, neighborhood events and mentoring high school girls in Ciudad Nueva programs. Like other Fellows Programs, Border Fellows work part-time, volunteer part-time and take two seminary classes over the course of 10 months.
As a volunteer, I lead YoungLife for high school kids with Ciudad Nueva and co-host bible studies, run weekly outreach clubs, bring pizza lunches to El Paso High, help kids with homework and provide a listening ear and encouragement to kids who need it.
