Border Heroes 2019 - Fight Remain in Mexico

It has been a year since family separation. We are still recovering and picking up the pieces from the pain and harm it caused. But 8 weeks ago, everything changed, yet again. Our government unveiled a new cruel policy. One that places our clients in literal life or death situations as they attempt to find refuge in the United States.  It's called Remain in Mexico, or  the official and ironic name, Migrant Protection Protocol  and it forces asylum seekers from Central America to wait in Mexico throughout the pendency of their entire asylum case.  Mothers, father, children, brothers, sisters, are paroled in for a few days for their court, held in what many describe as hierleras, then sent back to Mexico, where they face kidnapping, homelessness, and possible death.  Representing people in these conditions is near impossible and currently completely unsustainable. In order for Las Americas to continue to grow our infrastructure and fight again this horrific policy we need resources to  stay in the fight. We are asking for your donations today! New grants and partnerships are earmarked for specific programs such as detained asylum seekers.  The Remain in Mexico program is completely unchartered territory and we must continue to fight against it.
