My cousin Boopathi was diagnosed with “Chronic Kidney Disease - Stage V”. He is just 32 years and married since Aug 2014.
Boopathi was taken to Kamaraj Hospital, Chennai India, on February 2015 due to continuous muscle cramps, drowsiness and weakness. After a series of tests, it was diagnosed as “Chronic Kidney Disease - Stage V”.
This is the advanced stage of kidney disease and both kidneys almost lost the ability to do their job effectively. He will either need to be placed on dialysis for rest of his life or a kidney transplantation to live. He has been undergoing hemodialysis thrice a week since then.
Doctor’s advised him to undergo kidney transplant at the earliest. Some of the relatives came forward to donate and luckily his mother in law’s kidney is matching. They were able to manage the funds for the dialysis and the treatment so far using his employer insurance and out of pocket for medicines. But he doesn't have enough funds to support the kidney transplantation and further treatments.
He is currently admitted to SIMS Hospital in Chennai, India and preparing for the Kidney transplantation in two weeks.
