Books for Nepal village children

I recently volunteered with an organization called FACE Nepal. I was teaching English at the Secondary School Ganganagar. The school is located in Chitwan, a village in central Nepal. The government funded school has 430 students from nursery to grade 10.

After spending time with the teachers and students, I noticed a lack of reading materials. The school has an extremely small library with books that are not in good condition.

One day, I was teaching in the kindergarten class and managed to find two picture books that I read aloud to the students. They loved it! They were so happy to look at the books and turn the pages. The students are thirsty for knowledge but need proper reading materials.

I am working with the school principal to create small classroom libraries in the 14 classrooms. The school does not currently have the facility or staff to create a school library. The classroom libraries will allow all students to have access to books at their English levels.

The funds raised will go to the building of 14 bookcases and to purchasing a variety of English picture books and novels.

Please help me to fulfill this goal to further educate the children of Nepal!
