Books for Children Christmas 2021
BOOKS for CHILDREN - CHRISTMAS 2021
Nailsworth Rotary has once again teamed up with Yellow-Lighted Bookshop to provide children's books for families using Stroud District Foodbank this Christmas.
Target - £3,000 – please support our appeal
‘Food for the soul’.
The Yellow Lighted Bookshop provides reading lists for local schools and is the perfect partner to help us with this project. The books chosen this year are again beautiful books for children to enjoy again and again. They will be distributed with food hampers at Christmas, beautifully wrapped, and will be age related to help with reading skills and promote the joy of reading. They are books to treasure and keep forever.
The books chosen for this year are:
· The Christmas Pine – Julia Donaldson (0-5yrs)
· A Bedtime full of Stories – A collection of magical tales for children (5 – 12yrs)
By donating around £7 you will be giving a child the gift of a book to enjoy, maybe even inspiring them to explore more books, improve reading and writing skills and open up a whole new world of possibilities.
Our heartfelt thanks to Stroud District Foodbank, Nailsworth’s Yellow Lighted Bookshop, Brutons Hardware Nailsworth for environmentally friendly wrapping paper and to Egypt Mill Hotel and Restaurant who are happy to take donations in a sealed envelope addressed to Nailsworth Rotary - but most of all to you all if you choose to support the appeal by making a donation
Endorsement from Stroud District Foodbank for the Christmas 2020 appeal:
- We were delighted to work with Rotary Nailsworth on the Christmas 2020 book project which provided books to 500 children receiving foodbank support across the Stroud District.
- Over the Christmas period we made over 600 hampers for households across the district and it was so lovely to include a beautifully wrapped book for those families with children.
- The choice of book for the over 5s “The Book of Hope” was an excellent choice and very apt for a Christmas in lockdown when so many of us were unable to spend time with family and friends. Likewise, the selected picture books for the under 5s was well thought through. We received some lovely feedback from families and the books were well received and appreciated.
- It was a big project and we are very grateful to Rotary Nailsworth for managing this project so well. We look forward to working with you Christmas 21! On behalf of all of us at Stroud District Foodbank a very big “thank you”.
