To learn is to live. To create, to discover, to dream, and to ultimately realize these dreams are the surest paths to joy and fulfillment in this life. Unfortunately, education, and moreover, good education, is not a guarantee for many children in the United States and across the globe. It is dishearteningly easy for countless children, through circumstances out of their control, to grow up with a lackluster or even non-existent education, which then continues to negatively shape their lives thereafter.

The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys, or BWS, in Washington, D.C. is one institution that aims to fight against these frustrating educational inequalities. BWS is a tuition-free, private K-6 Episcopal school geared towards students from low-income, traditionally underserviced backgrounds. Committed to molding well-rounded and inquisitive young men, BWS provides its approximately 128 students with three meals a day, extra-curricular activities, introductions to civic service, and a personalized, multi-faceted education.

Unfortunately, due to recent renovations, BWS currently finds itself in a time of great financial need, and due to its commitment to remaining completely tuition-free, is dependent upon donations to provide its students with school-year necessities like textbooks. BWS stands firmly behind the belief that financial difficulties should not stand in the way of a good education, and that every child deserves a chance to succeed.
