Books and Shelves for Kiseri School of Megarih
Donation protected
The winter of 2016-17, my family and I went to Eritrea (Africa) for break. In the 2 weeks I spent there, I went on lots of adventures and visited different villages. In the midst of visiting all these villages, I went to the Kiseri School of Megarih. Visiting this school left an impact on me that I will never be able to forget. Although I was young, I acknowledged the major difference of Kiseri’s School of Megarih compared to schools I attend here in the United States.
As I entered the library of Kiseri’s School of Megarih, many voices were running through my head, the loudest one telling me “How do these kids learn with such little books?” Comparing this miniature library to the thousands of books I have access to here in America really made me sympathize for the kids that attend this school. This humbling and grace filling experience left an everlasting effect on me that always made me wonder how I can make a change.
Now, being much more grown and a junior in high school, I have the ability and knowledge to slightly enhance the learning environment for these kids. With that being said, I am doing a project that will fundraise hundreds of books and new shelves to be added to the library of Kiseri School of Megarih. If one cannot donate to the fundraiser, a simple prayer for these kids to have the same opportunity we do is perfect. May the Lord give these kids the strength to persevere and get quality education.
