Bonnie's organ replacement

In 2005, at age 36 our mum Bonnie was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that affects the liver and bile pipes, called Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC). After suffering with the illness whilst raising her 3 children, she received a donor "split-liver" in 2007. Since 2011, complications have arisen and her liver has shown multiple signs of rejection, and since then she has had stints in hospital off and on every year, each time getting increasingly worse.
In September of 2017, she was admitted to hospital after worrying clinical signs that something was developing, which was made obvious by lethargy, general illness and severe jaundice. After almost a month in hospital, and many tests, it was found that her liver function was extremely poor, and her only hope for a future would be to go back onto the transplant list for a re-transplant. After a consultant meeting, it has now unfortunately been decided that she is to be refused admission onto the transplant list for a second transplant, apparently due to missed appointments over the last 10 years, which is now seen as non-compliance. Each appointment given was to be attended at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Our mum lives in Wales, and has been dependent on disability benefits, whilst raising her children, making the situation very difficult and making some appointments a strain to attend. Besides these alleged missed appointments, our mum has had many appointments cancelled and rearranged for much later dates by the hospital clinic itself.
As a result of her poor liver function, her kidneys are also now under strain and showing signs of deterioration, making everything more complicated and the situation even more urgent. After informing our mum of their refusal to put her on the transplant list, she was unceremoniously told that she has around 8-12 months left before her liver and kidneys fail. Undeniably this is a traumatic and unbelievable shock to our entire family, not to mention to our mum herself. An appeal has been forwarded to a London hospital, in the hopes that they will consider her case, though the chances of this are slim. Being a mother of 3 as well as a grandmother of 2, she has a future full of things to live for, and we simply cannot just accept the decision that has been made. Therefore we are looking to hire a medical lawyer, to find out and do everything we can in our power to reverse this decision and give our mum a new chance at life with her family and loved ones.
