Art Supplies for Recovery Programs

This support will help me (Bonnie Kelso) to continue my work throughout the 2018 year. I have over 60 classes planned for the year that will serve over 100 people in addiction recovery, many of which are teenagers. This means we go through a whole lot of art supplies! This money will help me to continue this important work without sacrificing my own family's needs. Seriously, it's come to this!
I love this work and I can honestly say, I am really good at it. The only thing holding me back is the funding. I have received grants in the past and will continue to apply for them. (By the way, if you know of some good ones to go for, I'd love to know!) Even with this help, it does not cover all of my costs. I need this money by the end of the month in order to continue my work through the remainder of the year. If I can raise this much, I won't have to ask again until next year! Wow! What a lot of pressure that will relieve. :)

My story:
My name is Bonnie Kelso. I am an Art Facilitator and Creativity Healer. I help people connect to their inner-creative through self-expression. I do this by conducting various workshops here in town (and soon online). I also produce books that help guide people through these creative awakening processes. Over the past few years I have been focusing on helping people who are in addiction recovery programs. My latest group is composed entirely of High School students. The need here in Vegas for this work is overwhelming. So much so, that I am pleading for help to support my programs. I have seen first hand the profound healing that occurs when people are given a safe place to express their feelings through creative expression. They learn to change their views about themselves from being wounded (or not good enough) to understanding that they are sensitive creative souls who have an important story to share.
This work is important to me personally, because through my work I am expressing my story and purpose. As a young person, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy and not being able to fit in. As I embarked on my own personal spiritual journey of belonging, I discovered that the more I expressed my true self through my creative expression, the more I was able to connect with others. I am now committed to encouraging the development of creativity in others. I am driven by connection through my community and sharing the wonder and joy that comes from the flow of creating.
