Bonheur Du Ciel Lebanon Fundraiser

Donation protected

Everyone who knows me knows Lebanon has my heart. I had the opportunity to explore more of my country on my 3rd trip in 2015 when I went to see family and run in the Beirut Marathon.

One day I made a trip to a nearby city named Burj Hammoud. I was told this place was the best to shop in, frugal deals, delicious food, nice people, the usual. It was by fluke that I met a boy there named Edmon. He accepted my request to be my guide since this was my first time in the city.

Our meetup was cut short because he had to go to work. After obviously prying I found out that he was doing volunteer work at a cafe that services low-income families and refugees in the area.

These chance meetings led me to Bonheur du Ciel Cafe, a small cafe run like a soup kitchen managed by a local church. It feeds over 80+ underprivileged and low-income people from all nationalities, religious beliefs, ages, genders etc, per day. Serving meals and learning their stories has been one of the most enriching things I've done on this trip. I can honestly say that nothing has shown me truer humility than these people.

I'm helping to raise funds for the Bonheur Du Ciel Charity in Lebanon. They'd like to open more cafe's like the one in Burj Hammoud to help service more people in need. They also run drug and rehabilitation programs for youth, safe centres for the abused and battered, and day camps for the children on the weekends.

Please note their website is under construction, but you can find more info via their Facebook.
