#BoneCancerDad Wants his life back.

Hello everyone. Thank you for visiting my page and taking an interest in my story. I have my wife of 11 years and my 6 year old son and 2 year old daughter. In 2014 we bought our first house and life was great. Then 5 weeks later I was part of a massive layoff and shut down. I couldn't find a job near our current house that paid enough. So my wife said let's move and so I found a great job in Texas. However late 2015 I found out I had bone cancer. I was an IT Manager so I could have worked remotely, but the owner decided to email me. In that email he stated he no longer needed my services due to my medical condition. We then moved back to California while my wife was 6 months pregnant. I was in a ton of both physical and mental pain. After I reach my goals, if this takes off, which would be amazing to be able to donate a million dollars or more to UC Davis Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. More specifically Dr Steven Thorpe and his staff / department. I would push them to put the money towards a bone, tissue, nerve 3D printer. If they had this machine I would be in far less pain as they could have printed out the bones they took and simply replaced them. Also my nerves could have been replaced and I could still be walking. Back in California I had to apply for medical and disability. I dropped in income by so much. I felt like a loser and failure as a father and husband. My wife luckily got a job as a special education teacher. However her income was barely enough to cover the bills. Lucky her parents let us stay their for a little while. Once I started chemo in 2016 I moved in with my mom so I was not a burden to my family. Luckily my mom lived very close to my wife's parents. It was still hard being away from my family. Then I had 7 surgeries in July 2016 and stayed in the hospital until September 2016. I was in a 2 week medical comma for the first 5 surgeries. I apparently almost died a few times and was on the ecmo machine and lost around 84 units of blood during one surgery. I was gutted like a fish and I have a ton of scars and my body is forever changed. I had parts of my right pelvis, right hip, right lower spine removed and a lot of hardware holding me together. If you are a medical person, it was my L5-S1 and sacrum which meant my 2 upper right nerves had to be cut leaving me unable to use my right foot which is now starting to curl due to atrophy and  my calf is atrophying as well. In 2018 I found out I had cancer again on my spine. I am currently fighting that cancer. I am also facing the dilemma of whether or not to get the lower part of my right leg amputated.  I want to be a tax paying citizen again someday after I am strong enough which is hard to do with the amount of pain I am in and my need to do physical therapy which is hard to get to with no way to get there several days a week when my wife and family work. Then the ultimate rehab machine would be an Endless pool which has a treadmill and jets that will keep my legs up while I swim. This is a full body workout that takes away a ton of pain since I will be floating in water. All I want to do is play with my kids without being in all this pain. I miss playing with them so much. I feel like a failure as a father. Other things I need are rails in my house and a redone deck with stairs that are safe for me. The stairs are small and half my foot hangs off the stair as I go down the stairs. At some point I will most likely get a prosthetic limb. I am lucky in the sense I have great doctors, family and friends. It has been tough dealing with insurance issues that prevented my treatment for months, but thankfully that is resolved. Sincerely, Jonathan
