Bon-Accord Going Electronic

Donation protected
Having had the pleasure of meeting so many inspirational, driven, positive and truly kind and exceptionally talented people through my sport over the last 25yrs, I'm sure life would have turned out quite differently without it. It's my turn to try help out my rifle club and encourage many new members, including youngsters, to take up our sport.

"How?" I hear you cry. Well, on the international circuit we have been shooting on electronic targets for the last couple of decades give or take but at a club level, most clubs in the UK still are on shooting on paper with only a few exceptions.

The advances of technology in general over the last 20yrs have been astonishing, and within sport it is no different. No longer do we have to shoot at a piece of card, look through a telescope for an idea of where our shots have gone but leaving the spectactors pondering on how everyone is doing. It is possible to have instantaneous feedback from a shooting range, where the spectators can see results immediately on a screen, and taking that to the next level, results can be published online for the world to be able to see.

My dream is to take the club into the 21st century, encourage many more new members to take up our sport and keep it alive and to do that, making the sport more exciting, interactive, with immediate feedback to each athlete and supporter. This can only be a good thing in my mind.

Our club has been working hard and have raised over £22k now but we're still on a drive to raise a further £14k to buy 8 lanes of Meyton "Black Magic" electronic scoring targets which would see each shooter having a computer screen on the 25yd firing point and the sensors at the far end. We're also looking to buy the equipment needed to allow 10m air rifle and pistol to also be shot on electronics.

For any fellow shooters who have shot at Bon-Accord Rifle Club over the years, who've had many a good memory on the range or simply you feel you can spare a few £s, no matter how big or small, ANY dontation towards what is ultimately a drive to not only benefit existing members but to bring new blood into the sport and try keep shooting alive would be most welcomed.

If nothing else, thanks for taking the time to read this friends.
