Hi all!
I am trying to fundraise money to build a better place for Fred, our cook.
Super typhoon Yolanda destroyed thousands and thousands of houses and all sorts of buildings here in Tacloban.
I have been volunteering at Philippines Communitere for nearly 2 months now, we are setting up a workshop/resource centre/makers space for affected communities providing tools for them to use, share knoledge and build stuff, whatever it is that they need.
I went to visit Fred's 'house' last week when we realised he has no walls, and decided to start this campaign.
Bellow is the dark lane which takes you to his house.
And this is where he currently lives, no walls, no electricity, no running water, no drainage, no toilet. He basically gets wet every time it rains, which is pretty much every day now during rainy season. There are also 20 typhoons expected to hit the Philippines this wet season. He urgently needs a better place!

As there is no toilet in the whole lane, people just use the corner right in front of Fred's house which remains with all the rubbish that the typhoon brought. We thought we could build some compost toilets for them. But we need your help to sort all this out!
I have postoped my flight out of The Philippines to have more time to get things done! So please help us get started on this mission!

Estoy empezando esta campana para recaudar fondos y poder construir refugio para Fred, nuestro cocinero.
El super tifon Yolanda se llevo por delante miles y miles de viviendas asi como edificios publicos aqui en Tacloban.
He estado trabajando de voluntaria en Philippines Communitere hace ya casi 2 meses. Estamos preparando un taller con herramientas disponibles para que las familias afectadas puedan construir lo que necesiten, sera un espacio compartido entre carpinteros, soldadores y en general gente interesada en crear objetos que mejoren sus vidas. Un espacio para las comunidades mas afectadas no solo a nivel invidual sino que tambien se podran desarrollar pequenos negocios.
Independientemente de lo que Philippines Communitere hace, fui a visitar la casa de Fred la semana pasada. Se me cayo el alma al suelo al ver las condiciones en las que vive. Las fotos ilustran el acceso a su "casa" , su casa en si, sin paredes, sin electricidad, sin agua corriente, sin bano, sin drenaje alguno, su hijo adoptado con el que comparte suelo y techo. Basicamente Fred se moja cada vez que llueve, cada dia, ahora que ya ha empezado la temporada de lluvias. Al no haber bano, la gente hace sus necesidades en cualquier charco o rincon en el que aun se ven cantidad de objetos y basura q arrastro el tifon.
Estan previstos 20 tifones en las Islas Filipinas durante los proximos meses! Fred necesita una casa mejor urgentemente!
La visita me hizo reconsiderar el viaje por el sureste asiatico que tenia planeado hacer despues de esta experiencia, y posponer mi vuelo. Me voy a quedar en Tacloban hasta finales de Septiembre, pero necesito vuestra ayuda economica para poder empezar con este proyecto!
