Boey's Battle: Overcoming Hip Dysplasia

Donation protected
Life has a way of surprising us, and not always in the best way. This past week, my family and I received the news that no one would hope to hear until it happens. We are in need of fundraising to help our sweet boy get the life-changing surgery he desperately needs. Boey is not just a pet to us; he is a part of our family, bringing us endless love, joy, and companionship. Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with a serious case of hip dysplasia on both sides that will require urgent surgery, and the costs are overwhelming. We want to do everything we can to give him his best chance at happiness and a healthy life, but we can't do it alone.

From the moment we brought Boey home, he filled our lives with love, laughter, and endless energy we never knew we needed. We were amazed at how quickly he started learning things and picking up on commands. He loves to sleep, go on walks, and hold three balls in his mouth at once, which he is pretty good at. Prior to us getting him from the breeder, he was given a clean bill of health, and we were told he was healthy when getting his follow-up shots. As time went on, we started noticing little things that didn't add up. We had never really seen him at a full sprint or run like other puppies his age; he would not jump into a car or even onto the couch and was more exhausted than he should have been. After a couple of hours of playing outside, he would noticeably favor his back legs and not use them as much. At this point, we knew he needed to be seen by a professional.

We had suspicions prior to going in that it was to do with his hips because of the way he carried himself. We ended up getting him x-rays, and the doctor came back with the worst diagnosis possible. Our 8-month-old purebred puppy has severe hip dysplasia on both sides. We were in tears hearing this information. I could only think to myself how unfair it is; he is so young and does not deserve to have his puppy age lived in pain. We were given a couple of options on how to treat this type of condition, all three of those being surgery in some shape or form. We have gotten an opinion from a veterinary hip replacement specialist in Ketchum, ID, and he recommended Boey is a candidate for a Total Hip Replacement because of the severity of his dysplasia. The quote we received for this procedure is $10,600 per side. We are hoping to raise money to get at least one side fixed at this time. We want to do everything we can to get him healthy again and get him the surgery he needs. That's why we're reaching out for support; any contribution, big or small, will help us get him the care he needs and deserves and prayers are greatly appreciated.
