Dearest friends,
It is with a heavy sad heart that I share that our beloved Bob Walsh has passed away.
Bob was on a business trip in Tbilisi, Georgia and was hospitalized with severe respiratory problems. It was so severe that he was transferred to a hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. His son, Tim Walsh, flew to Istanbul to be by his side in the ICU in Istanbul where he visited and talked with him once or twice a day for three days. Bob's condition got worse and he passed away today.
Bob was my mentor, a very close friend and like a father to me. His son Tim, is my GodSon. So much can be said about Bob Walsh - one of our greatest citizen diplomats - but for now, let's focus on what he meant to all of us as a generous beloved friend.
Tim can use your financial support now more than ever before. We are setting up this memorial fund for Tim to handle all the related memorial service expenses. The funds will be sent directly to Tim. Please give generously as you are able now - Tim needs your support and we want to honor Bob. I will send an update later when the family has memorial service details. Bob gave generously to so many people thoughout his life and the unexpected moment suddenly arrived, when it is our turn to honor and support the man who helped so many.
