Hello from Bob's daughter!
Long story short...Dad has Liver Disease (Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH is a common, often “silent” liver disease).
We have been in and out of the hospital over the past couple of months. He's taken a turn for the worse, we think due to some medication he was put on that caused a horrible reaction. Our goal is to get a new liver as soon as possible.
We were at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, AR for many days and nights waiting for a transfer to connect him with the specialists he needs.
We are now at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma city. He will stay there until he is well enough to get on their transplant list. He is very eligible and high up on the list to get one.
His loving family isn't leaving his side. His wonderful wife and my mother, along with his son, myself and his grandchildren have so much hope in this situation.
We are hours from home and out the expenses of basic needs. Shelter, food, and whatever odds and ends will be needed. At times we are also unable to work to provide those needs given that someone must be with him in Oklahoma City 24/7 . You can imagine how overwhelmed we are.
The combination of surgery, medication, lost wages, and travel expenses will be more than one of us could make in a lifetime.
We hate asking for support but have been advised by the hospital to seek funding immediately. We put the cap at $100,000 for this fundraiser. We do not expect to get anywhere near that, but did not want to set it too low such that people would be unable to give once the cap was reached. Every penny helps, and if we only raise ten dollars here, that's ten we didn't have before, and we genuinely appreciate it.
We would love and appreciate any support you can offer. But more than anything, thank you for loving my dad whether you know him or not.
