Bobby Mac Bike Path Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Bobby Mac passed away on March 23, 2014, from pancreatic cancer. His given name was Robert McMurray, but everybody called him Bobby Mac.

Bobby began riding a bike when the Minuteman Bikeway was built past his house. At the time he weighed over 300 pounds. He was known to say that the bike saved his life.

Bobby then went on to inspire thousands of us to ride our bicycles farther, more often, and in support of whatever charity moved us.  Bobby changed our lives as well as his.

Arlington Bicycle Club / Team Quad is raising money for a memorial to Bobby Mac to be placed along the Minuteman Bike Path in Arlington somewhere in between Brattle Street and the Lexington town line.

The memorial will consist of a boulder with a bronze plaque set just off the path perhaps with a bench.

This way when we and others are riding along Bobby Mac's favorite bikepath through Arlington, Lexington and Bedford, we will be reminded to do as Bobby so often told us to:  “Ride with love in your hearts and smiles on your faces”.

There will be a ride April 4th, 2015, Bobby's birthday with a celebration remembering Bobby to follow at the Lexington depot.

Any additional funds raised will go towards the celebration and or be donated to an AIDS Charity ride in Bobby’s honor.
