Help Lena & Bob Rebuild Their Home

On September 6th, 2017 the United States Virgin Islands were hit with the most powerful storm ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean. Gusts of 185mph wind ripped through the islands, decimating homes, hopsitals, and everything else in their path.

During the peak of the storm's rage and fury, Lena, Bob and family friends hid terrified in a central room in their home as they watched their cottage get torn to pieces, and felt their own home falling apart around them. Windows shattered, entire pieces of furniture were thrown to a watery grave. They lost power and running water. Water flooded up to their ankles.

The morning after, Lena, my mom, called me as pouring rain saturated their house through missing portions of the roof. She cried as she described the rubble that was once our neighborhood paradise.

Many of you have been welcomed into Bob and Lena's island home with warm, open arms. You have seen the sweat and blood and sacrifice they went through to build their piece of paradise over the last several years. This was demolished in one day. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage have taken place. While I cannot express how thankful I am that everyone is alive and uninjured, Bob and Lena have months, possibly years, of rebuilding to do.

Any contribution to this cause is appreciated from the bottom of my heart.

Thank You,

Tarah
