What does a tall red head,a short blonde, a passion for paddling and a lack of Prostate specialist nurses in South Australia have in common? We have taken up the challenge of paddling for 24 hours (in a 730 mirage kayak) to raise funds to aid the employment of another prostate nurse in South Australia.
My friend Deb and I will attempt a 24 hour paddle in an 2 person kayak on 10 and 11th February 2018.
Our event will take place at Aquatic Reserve Westlakes and has the full support of Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia. This event will also take place before a 'Paddle for Prostate' event supported by Charles Sturt Council in which the community can become involved.
Currently South Australia is funded for 2 Prostate Specialist Nurse and my aim is to change this. Below is the link detailing a bit more of what these specialist nurses do.
This challenge is in memory of our dear mate Bob; a father; a husband; a grand father; a colleague; a team mate; a great guy who would never turn his back on anyone in need.
How can you help?
Donate a dollar or 2; tell your friends or pass our quest onto networks especially corporate business. All money donated will go towards funding the employment of a another prostate nurse in South Australia.
As a community we can change the amount of support offered to men and families afflicted by prostate cancer.
If having another nurse in South Australia makes one difference to their journey, then our challenge will be worth it!
Passion; for life
Persistence; just do it
Purpose; our cause
