Help out our beloved Bob Olson, musician, self employed contractor, father, and all around mensch. I'm Bob's younger sister, Jei Olson. I live in Brooklyn, NY so I can't be with Bob while he undergoes surgery and recovery in Duluth, MN. But I want to help if I can.
He needs surgery to remove a large mass between his heart and lung. His Doctor believes it is benign and his prognosis is good. However, recovery will take at least 2 months. He will be physically restricted and unable to work for at least that long.
He has insurance, but after he pays the $6,700 deductible, only 80% of the remaining medical bills are covered. So in addition to the $6700, he will pay 20% out of pocket for all the pre-op scans, tests, two overnights in the hospital after surgery, Physical Therapy and follow ups. We don't know exactly what those charges will be yet, (nor does the hospital yet), but it will easily reach $10,000. In addition to this, he will be income free for two months, but while his income takes a break, his bills will not! I think we can all imagine what could happen to us if we suddenly incurred that kind of debt, and were unable to work for a long stretch. No one should be worrying about finances while dealing with a medical emergency.
Let's limit that unnecessary stress, support my brother (a truly good man), and help him recover. Any amount you contribute is helpful.
