Boatel and Friends Abacos Hurricane Relief Fund

Since 2004, we own and operated Toronto's only Boat Bed and Breakfast and in the winter we cruised south aboard our boat (Boatel I) from Toronto to the Bahamas. Each year we raise money from guests who stay at our B & B (www.boatel.ca) and friends, for arts and craft supplies which we distribute to Bahamian schools. Over the last 5 years we have fallen in love with the Abacos and consider it our winter home. Last year we visited Duncan Town, Ragged Island in the Southern Bahamas and saw first hand the devastation left from Hurricane Irma. Sadly in Duncan Town no children remained because their school was closed.
This year we have a very special appeal for donations to assist the Bahamian people who have been directly affect by hurricane Dorian. Since many people have lost everything, there is a long list of items they need. We will work with the local communities in the Abacos to bring tools, electrical components and building supplies to assist in rebuilding their homes, their communities and their lives. 100% of the funds donated will be delivered directly to the Bahamian families who need it most to assist with the rebuild efforts.
We also have a community drive in Toronto to collect bras, pajamas, baby clothes, underwear, makeup and personal hygiene supplies which we will deliver personally to the people in the Abacos. The money in our gofundme will be used for tools, electrical wiring and building supplies.
As a special note: the photo was taken March 26, 2019 when we visited Cooper's Town, Abacos and met with the principal Bridgeann McIntosh. Yesterday we received word that Bridgeann and her family are still missing. Please pray that they are found safe. This fund is being set up in her honour.
