Replacement of Vandalized Boat Motor
Donation protected
Our elder parents brand new boat motor was tampered with, which caused it to seize. Because the motor was vandalized, it will not be covered under warranty. This motor was $10,000, not cheap at all.
We can't help but think of the "what if's". Our parents could have been out on Babine Lake stranded, they could have been with their grandchildren and/or great grandchildren. When the engine seized, it was late fall when our family made their last trip to close down the cabin for the winter and the boat barely made it back to the family cabin. Its so frustrating that this happened to such good people.
Our parents help families every summer and to harvest our salmon, our Dad shuttles family friends and guests to Old Fort during every summer, Salmon harvest for the Nakazdli Elders/Cultural Center, Lake Babine Nation Traditional, Nicola Valley Band, and our family harvest/hunt. This is just to name a few of the groups of people my parents helped this past summer.
Our parents work very hard to keep our Old Fort community beautiful, to be hospitable to any guests who visit Old Fort, and to teach our children, grand children, and great grand children our culture and traditional values.
We would very much appreciate any donation amount towards a new boat motor, as our parents boat is essential to going back to our roots next spring. Thank you from the children of Ray and Marlene
