Boat Funds Cullman County Volunteer Fire Depts

There are 7 Volunteer Fire Departments in Cullman County that cover Smith Lake. The departments that have coverage area of Smith Lake include: Trimble, Logan, Crane Hill, Cold Springs, Bremen, Dodge City and Loretto. There is a great need for Rescue and Fire Suppression boats for these departments to be able to adequately respond in a timely manner and provide the services sometimes needed on and around the lake. Boats would provide access to emergencies on the water such as boating accidents as well as some of the homes that are not accessible by fire trucks on land if there was a house fire. Several of these departments as well as some with out coverage area on the lake such as Good Hope have went in together and purchased a pontoon boat that they are currently working to get ready for Emergencies on the lake. The picture above is the boat they purchased.  They would also like to purchase at least one more boat to share between the departments.  So far they have had a boat lift donated if they find somewhere to store the boat on the water it could be utilized as well as 2 fire pumps. Any funds donated will be given directly to the departments that are working on this project. The funds would be used for things such as rescue/fire equipment for the boat, lights, storage fees on the water, maintenance of the boat and anything raised over the cost of those things would go towards the next boat they are looking to purchase.
