Bo Wallace Eagle Scout Project

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Bo Wallace, and that's me on the right in the photo above. This photo was from one of my favorite camp outs as a boy scout, something I've been lucky to share for many years with both my twin brother and my father.

I am now nearing the end of my 10-year journey as a Boy Scout and am currently working on my Eagle Scout project, and I require the funds to carry through with it. I have included information about my project below, and I would  wholeheartedly appreciate your donation to my cause!

What will I be doing?

A team of fellow Boy Scouts and I will be constructing six picnic tables, two of these tables with an extra foot off one end for ADA/disability accessibility, for Roper Mountain Science Center, a very important educational center in our community (www.ropermountain.org). We will also be laying down stones along a path, and spreading mulch in the same area around trees and benches to complete the landscaping of the new seating area.

How will the project benefit Roper Mountain Science Center (RMSC)?

Several hundred students from around our county visit and learn at RMSC every day during the school year and there are also lots of public camps and experiences for the community in general. On some of their busiest days, they become short on seating. My project will help them out with this issue, creating a helpful new physical resource for the center to accomodate all visitors. In addition, it will allow those with disabilities to join their family and friends more comfortably and conveniently throughout their visit.

How much will the project cost?

In my planning, I have calculated that the project will cost approximately $2,000. All fund will go towards materials, and all labor will be volunteered. Any excess funds raised will be donated to RMSC, which is an educational 501c-3 non profit.

When do I plan to carry out the project?

The project day is set for Saturday, May 5, 2018. There will be pre-work and materials purchase in advance of that day and then the work day will consist of constructing the tables and doing our landscaping on site with the help of fellow scouts (of course including my twin!) and the supervision of adult scout leaders (including my dad!) and our project sponsor from RMSC, Mr. Michael Weeks.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my project and for considering making a donation in support of it. Any level of contribution is welcome!

p.s. Here are a couple more photos from my life as a scout that you might enjoy.

Here with my brother Mac (I'm on the right) getting dropped off for one of our summer camp weeks at Camp Old Indian when we were in elementary school.

This was the night, as middle schoolers, that my brother and I (on the left) were both inducted into the Order of the Arrow honor society with the Blue Ridge Council. We are proud to be the third generation in our family to all be OA. And all three generations, including our dad and Grandpa Tom, were there!
