*Please Help Nigel's Last Battle*

Nigel Gawith was diagnosed with Epithelial Sarcoma on June 5th 2007 at the age of 27. Epithelioid Sarcoma is a cancer so rare that Americans have a better chance of being struck by lightning.

His diagnosis broke the heart of his family and loved ones who have watched him battle this ugly and debilitating disease over the last few years. Today, Nigel is terminal and the cancer is rapidly taking over his body.  It has diminished most of his physical abilities in just a few short weeks, including his ability to walk or get into a wheel chair.

On July 1st, Nigel was airlifted to the University of Washington Medical Center from Walla Walla, where he lived close to his extended family. Seattle is the nearest place where he could receive the medical expertise and care for his acute pain. Two weeks later, he was transferred to the Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland. The family is still trying to find a 24 hour care center that can handle his condition and where he can spend his last days and pass peacefully.

Over the last 7 years battling cancer, Nigel went through 7 rounds of chemotherapy, 2 intensive rounds of radiation and 5 invasive surgeries to shrink and remove the painful tumors. He did his absolute best to fight this disease and be a wonderful significant other to his wife and their 2 children. He has been an amazing, strong, patient, funny and generous friend to everyone in his life, despite all of these painful and terrifying challenges. He loved and cherished his friends and family deeply. He embraced Jesus Christ and treated everyone in his path with kindness. He made everyone laugh with his amazing sense of humor and wit. He is still rewarding his family and friends with these gifts and keeps a positive attitude, despite his pain and his situation.

Nigel and his family have very limited funds.  Because of his cancer treatments, Nigel has not been able to work for several years. His mother and father don’t have transportation to Seattle, and have been trying to find a way to make the trip.  His family is desperate to be with him in his final hours and Nigel wants his family around him, too. As each day goes by and things get worse, the situation becomes more painful and real.  There are no funds for his needs, traveling costs for his family, cremation costs, or a memorial service.

It’s a heavy burden for Nigel and his family to fear these needs will not to be met when there is so little time. Nigel’s last days should peaceful and comforting.

Thank you so much for any help you can give.  We appreciate each and every one of you more than we can ever express.

May God bless you for your generosity!
